With the objective of obtaining an overall picture of documentation and information supply and demand in the social sciences, a number of experts were called upon to provide a review of their own areas of specialism. The result is the present book, which describes in detail the typology, availability, and usage of documents in the major social science disciplines, including areas of applied social science involving important practitioner groups - social welfare, probation, social services, and planning. The book also includes a comprehensive study of the availability of, and demand for, documents then produced by intergovernmental organisations, and the discipline of social policy.
